Rogaine (All Topicals & Shampoos)

I want to start using rogaine to combat my thinning frontal hairloss. I was planning on using the foam, but I've read some horry stories on this forum as well as the other one. I'm leaning towards using the Kirkland 5% brand. It seems to be the cheapest. Since this will be my first time using rogaine. Is there anything I should know, any tips? In addition, where is the cheapest place you to buy it? Thanks in advance for the help.

Your best bet to combat thinning frontal hair loss will not be Rogaine alone, IMO. You need a DHT blocker -- Saw Palmetto (natural) and other things, or Propecia or Avodart (pharmaceuticals).

I get Kirkland's at Costco.

follow up question

Goingallout, I've been on propecia for the past 7 years and have experienced good results. Though my hair is still thinning in my temple regions and just behind my hairline. I was trying to do something to help hold onto this remaining hair.
I just read on the other site that the kirkland brand is greasy and hard to apply. The guy on the other site was recommending using Dr. Lee's 5%. He said that it doesn't leave your hair greasy and it's easy to style your hair. Anyone with any experience with this product?

follow up question

I actually prefer the Kirkland to Dr. Lees "non-greasy" stuff. He uses glycerin instead of propylene glycol, which I think weighs my hair down more than the Kirkland stuff. I use a sprayer that gives a very light coating.

Minox is about the only product that can give you a chance. I have been using it for many years and my hair is way thicker.

Present evidence suggests that minoxidil acts mainly on the hair cycle; it may also increase hair diameter ...............................
...........................................................................................
The results of histological studies in humans are less conclusive than in the macaque. Abell[10] found a trend towards an increase in anagen/telogen ratios after 12 months of minoxidil treatment in balding men, but the main change was an increase in mean hair diameter. This was most apparent at 4 months and mean diameter had declined at 12 months. He suggested this might be due to later recruitment of small diameter hairs into anagen. Headington and Novak[11] reported that minoxidil treatment caused hypertrophy of follicles but, although there was an increase in mean hair diameter in minoxidil-treated balding men after 12 weeks, a similar increase occurred in control subjects......................................................
................................
This does not necessarily imply that individual hair follicles become larger, as an increase in mean diameter may also occur through preferential recruitment of large diameter hairs in a latent phase of the hair cycle.
