Allergan is testing to doses/strengths of bimatoprost. If their higher dose version shows good (considerably better than minoxidil and finasteride/dutsteride combined) results after phase 2 study results come in, in September this year what then?

I think that people are going to be surprised. I think that high dose bimatoprost is going to result in visibly-to-the-naked-eye better results than minoxidil. The only problem is that the dose you are using is likely too low but I don't think you should consider increasing it until after we see that higher doses are safe. We will know later this year.

Don't want to be a naysayer on bimatoprost, but I don't think this is a silver bullet. I don't think it'll be much more powerful at growing hair than what's already on the market, e.g., Rogaine and Propecia. I think doses won't matter so much because the stuff will hit a plateau in effectiveness as you increase the dose beyond a certain point.

It is most likely a super-minox at best....But it's likely more effective than minox, otherwise they wouldn't even bother to pursue it.

What we need is something to help degrade androgen receptors that can be applied topically, it would be a huge boost to fin, as we'd be applying antiandrogens from both sides of the equation so to speak.

You might be right but there is an element of "guessing" to your theory. Really there is no way to tell till after we get results from phase 2. I sure hope they publicize the results. I admit that i am guessing myself but I have a feeling that it will be a pleasant surprise. Do i think it's the silver bullet? No. But I do think it was be a vesibly superior treatment to what is already on the market.

The fact that they know the power of minoxidil and yet they are still trying bimatoprost does kind of make me think it will likely be a pleasant surprise. There are other reasons, but that is surely one reason. Look at the recent study with latanoprost showing a 20% increase in hair counts plus thickening of existing hairs. That is another thing in favor of bimatoprost in my opinion because latanoprost and bimatoprost work by similar modes of action if I understand the situation correctly. A solid percent increase would be a substantial improvement but maybe get a little more increase if you increase the dose. And I think that new german study said 20% increase in hair counts PLUS thickening of already existing hairs.

That would be impressive because if you add up a 20% increase in hair counts, PLUS thickening of existing hairs, that could mean maybe 30% more coverage.

Isn't it Phase II supposed to be end in Sep 2012?

The only problem is that the dose you are using is likely too low but I don't think you should consider increasing it until after we see that higher doses are safe.
