Topjimmy Donor Exchange Method - Dr. Arvind

According to Dr. Arvind "An area of recent interest among many people has been the use of body hair grafts to fill in the scalp hair donor sites.

It appears as a logical course to follow for those who

1. may not wish to use body hair over the bald recipient sites but have a degree of hairloss that is too severe to fill with the scalp donor hair alone.
(for them this avenue opens the possibility of harvesting the scalp donor areas to a greater extent while still minimising chances of visible thinning in the back of the scalp).

2. may have very thin and fine body hair growth.
(they may like to use the very thin/fine hair in the scalp donor sites rather than the recipient/bald areas).

The first patient to have such a procedure performed, albeit in a very limited way is a forum member- TopJimmy.

Following are the pictures where some of the body hair grafts were placed.

The grafts were extracted from the chest area.

They were not trimmed except for removing the epidermis for the purpose of donor sealing

They were placed in a localised area of the scalp that was then photographed to mark it.

I think this approach is a natural advance in the progress of the techniques of follicular unit extractions.

From the time when the FUs were extractable without the use of a strip method, to a time when the white dots in the donor areas were dealt with by the use of the donor sealing protocol, there was always one missing piece.

That was that even when there were no visible scarring in the donor areas with FUSE techniques, there would always be empty spaces from which the donor hair had been extracted.

With the placement of the body hair in the scalp donor sites we hope to acheive the near perfect scalp donor areas.

For ease of communication I am terming this method of taking the body hair grafts and placing them in the scalp donor sites as the
"DONOR GRAFT EXCHANGE" or donor exchange method.

It is a descriptive and easy to understand term.

With the donor exchange method we hope to be able to acheive-
no linear strip scar,
no white dots,
no empty spaces.

I am indebted to the forum members who participated in the various discussions (as well as those that did not participate openly but communicated their ideas through personal emails).

I beleive these open discussions are a way of advancement that will benefit the hair restoration science.

I request forum members to comment or suggest on the possible drawbacks or further refinements to this method."
