Case1514 - Hair Transplant Consultation

Monday, December 25. 2006
Dear Doctor,

I started thinning at 16 and am now 53. I managed to keep my hair at about a Norwood 3. I think hair multiplication will be here within 5 years but want to do something for the time right now. So after doing some research and spending years on the forum, I have narrowed it down to FUE. I also have plenty of body hair.

Questions

1. Am I a good candiate for hair transplant?

2. What would be a realistic goal for me, how many grafts, and what kind of results can I expect? Can it be done in 1 session?

3. I still have a good amount of hair plus a somewhat diffuse thinning pattern, do I need to worry about shock loss?

4. What would be the approximate cost?

5. Do I need to shave either the recipient or the donor site for the procedure?

6. Will I be able to wear my hair short if I choose to one day, and without people realizing that I have hair transplant done?

Thanks.
