Sean1977 - Diffuse Thinning, a candidate for hair transplant?
Saturday, February 17. 2007
I am considering a HT, but was wondering what everyones thoughts were regarding my situation. I know there is a lot of opinions regarding HTs if you have diffuse thinning and are a bit younger.
I am 29 years old and I have diffuse thinning all over the top of my head. I began thinning when I was about 19 years old and I started taking propecia when I was about 24. My hairloss never got any worse after that, but being stupid, I assumed that the propecia wasn't helping because my hair didn't get thicker either. After two years of using propecia, I stopped taking it. After 12 months of not using propecia, I lost an enormous amount of hair. I got back on propecia a year and a half ago and also started using rogaine 5% twice a day to help gain back the hair I lost. I've gained back an enormous amount of hair and now I'm a lifer on both of these treatments.
While my hair has thickened up enormously, I'd like to thicken it up a bit more and lower my temple areas a bit. I've consulted with Alvi Armani who has recommended 4000 grafts to reach my desired results. I am worried, however, that if I get this done I might still lose hair in the future and end up looking strange. I am still gaining hair back from the use of rogaine and propecia at this point.
Do you guys think a HT is a wise decision for me based on my situation?
Here is some comparison pics to show where I started a year and a half ago before getting back on propecia and starting rogaine and where I am now.. actually, I think my hair is a bit thicker now than in pic #2 which was taken about six months ago... I just added pic #3 which I took today to show how much regrowth I've had over the past year and a half..
