Hairycanary - Hair Transplant with Dr. Aronovitz in Southfield, MI

Saturday, February 17. 2007
I'm getting a strip hair transplant in about a week and I'm very excited and anxious. It's gonna be between 1600-1750 grafts.

My strip transplant will be between 1600-1700 grafts. That's certainly not out of the ordinary for a "virgin" head (I'm nearing 29, fyi). The beloved Dr. Armani has performed strips on 24-year olds and 28-year olds with 1800-1900 grafts. He's even done larger strips on 20 and 21-year olds, which to me is VERY risky and inappropriate. Isn't the general rule that anyone 24 or younger shouldn't be getting hair transplants?

I was so anxious at the initial consultation today that I forgot to ask a few questions. If anyone can be so kind as to answer a few general things:

1) Is it ok to wear a hat after the procedure?

2) I'll be able to go back to work the next day, right?

3) How long do I have to wait before I can wash my hair/take a shower after the procedure?

4) How long do I have to wait before I can get a hair cut after the procedure (not that I'm planning to or anything)? Will my hair dresser have to be extra careful cutting my hair?

5) Can my doctor write me a prescription for a full year of Propecia (he gave me a two month supply to start out with)?

6) Will I be able to come back a little less than a week after the procedure to remove the sutures (I ask this because my work schedule is pretty packed the week after)?

Thanks! Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

Happy New Year,

Ray
