Case1410 - Scar repair

Tuesday, November 7. 2006

I'm a 34 yr old male.

I've had 3 transplant surgeries in the past which didn't take as nicely as I thought but that's not my biggest problem.  I have 3 large scars at the back from the donor areas.  During my last surgery the donor area got infected and the suture opened.  It was extremely painful during the healing period especially during the cleaning process where my wife, who was my girlfriend at the time, had to scrub the infected area with peroxide.

The doctor who performed the surgery offered at no charge to reduce the scar after it healed but the scar was so large that there was only so much he could do at the time.

I was told I would need additional surgeries to repair the scars.

I believe that my scars are worse than Dj's.  I have to wear my hair long and most of the time I just wear a hat to conceal my scars.
This has really affected my self confidence and the way I look and dress.  I wear a hat 98% of the time and when I do have to wear a suit or dress up, I get so anxious and spend 2 hours in the mirror trying to hide my scars and conceal my thin spots.
I thought that if I had a hair transplant it would increase my self confidence but ever since this incident it's had the opposite effect.  This problem has destroyed my self esteem.
If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated by not only myself but my wife because I know it effects her to because we never go out anymore and if I have to go somewhere I always wear a hat.
I would love to get rid of my hats forever and go back to feeling confident.
So I beg you if you can help me in any way I would be grateful for it for the rest of my life.
