Ams04: One month post op - 1,000 bht to the crown - Dr. Umar
Long time member, rarely post anymore. Just want to give my story, since I am now a little over one month post op a 1,000 bht procedure. This is my third procedure in the crown region, and I honestly hope last. I've been dealing with a crown thinning since my early 20s, and in my late 20s, I'd like closure and be satisfied with my results.
My first procedure was with another ht surgeon, and I had 500 scalp hairs placed in the crown. The results were so-so, and I wanted better coverage. On December of last year, I had my first procedure with Dr Umar. Approximately 650 chest hair grafts placed in the crown. I was pleased with the results, and decided to go with an additional 1,000 grafts extracted from the stomach area (had acne problems when the grafts were extracted from the chest).
I'm hoping for the best, but notice at one month post op the crown area is looking thinner. Thankfully toppik is a god send, but I'm hoping this issue will resolve within the next two months and things will be looking back to normal up there. Dr Umar had to cut the all the surrounding hair in order to prevent shock loss, so it'll take awhile for the thinning hairs to grow longer.
Anyway, I included some pics of what my hair was looking at 10 months post op my last procedure, the first picture is a photo of me directly after a shower, to show the extent of the thinning. The other two were when the hair was slightly more dry (first without flash, second with flash), demonstrating the illusion a ht gives. The fourth picture is me one month post op. I will also list previous threads about my case and a little extra history posted on this web site. I'll try and give quarterly updates.

At first I went into Dr Umar's with the thoughts seeing what body hair can do for me. More of an experiment. The first bht was more of an experiment. I was pleased with the results and went in for a second round. I have fairly thick chest and stomach hair, and plenty of them. I also didn't want to deplete my donor scalp hair on the crown region, and would rather reserve that for the frontal area.
Attachment 4 is post op 1 month this last 2006 october procedure, and attachment number 2 is pre op/post op my december 2005 procedure. i did have growth from body via my 650 graft procedure in december of last year, but it's too early to tell the results of my last procedure. i'm hoping for the best.
