Ok guys, I made it to India to see Dr.A and I can for sure say WOW! What an experience this has been already. I have never been out of the US so it has been quite the culture shock. It's not bad, just different, which is what I was looking forward to anyways. The hustle and bustle is amazing, the traffic is so hectic I couldn't imagine trying to drive in it. It's quite amusing from the back seat of a cab though!
Dr.A had someone meet me at the airport which was MAJOR because I would've been lost if not. Lost like I have never been! I got to the hotel that I satyed in the first night which Dr.A had set up for me without a problem at all and it is right next door to his office which is very nice. At 10:00am someone came to escort me to the office. We sat down, talked a bit about the proceedure and after a quick antibiotic, I was getting started. Everyone knows the job they do very well. They are extremely good at what they do and it is obvious when they get going that they are very professional. We took a short break after a few hours when they got me a sandwich and some juice. I have been through 500+ grafts now on my first day with NO PAIN. I am very comfortable with Dr.A. He is open to any questions or conversation you might have as he is on the board here. We had already gotten and pre-paid for reservations for a different hotel and Dr.A's staff set it up for us to have our luggage moved to the other hotel with no problems. I would say that everything has been smooth since arriving thanks to Dr.A and his staff. I know I had a million questions about going to India before I left so feel free to ask away!
Oh, the flight was FOREVER long!!! From CA to Canada, short layover (2 hours) and then off to India. I flew Air Canada the whole trip and they were very nice as well.
I am getting 2500 FUE. It has been a long day today. The longest of the four planned. They did over 800 grafts today. I ended up waking up at 4:00am this morning and stayed awake so that helped me to sleep through a few hours of the procedure today which was nice. Today, I got to see some video of MY procedure being done. The grafts being removed, the grafts being placed, and the donor sealant being placed. It is amazing the difference donor sealant makes, the little spots from just yesterday are hardly noticeable already! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it on video. The things that Dr.A chooses to try out are such a huge benefit, it's nice to see someone that refuses to let technology remain stagnant. Imagine where the world of HT would be today if someone thought outside the box 30-40 years ago, and shared the info with each other (excellent point Dr.A)!!!
Dr.A 's & his team are top notch and the more time I spend with him, the more thankful I am that there is actually a doctor out there with these types of ethics. We spoke for a while about the history of transplants and it is VERY interesting how the world has gone about it. I never really thought about it before.
It is amazing how they all work together like a well oiled machine. Everyone does their part and things just flow so smoothly. I have eaten little food that would be new to me but I'm just not that courageous I guess . Plus I'm a big wimp when it comes to spicy food. The not spicy food here is like FIRE to me, hahaha. Anyways, India is great and it is so wild to see such a different culture and how things are on the other side of the planet! Very cool experience.

Everything has gone very smooth. I am extremely happy with the procedures and how I have been treated. I have no regrets of coming to India at all as I did have my reservations about the things unkown (different country and all) but it has been an adventure and I have mot even been to the sights I still would like to see. The education that I recieve each day from Dr.A is priceless and when a doctor could just do the job and be done with you, Dr.A goes the extra steps to insure you know as much as you can about the whole HT world. It is truely amazing and very interesting. I HIGHLY recommend anyone that is looking to come to India to just do it! Like I said before, I have no problem answering questions so ask away if you'd like.
As far as pain goes, there has been none. Dr.A is very attentive to any pain or sensitivity you may have and it is instantly taken care of.
