Why I prefer temporary Tricopigmentation(SMP) based on real patients I have seen (Hair Transplant)
Dear forum readers and fellow doctors,
I know some may argue that this post should be made in the SMP section only.
However, in my opinion, there is going to be so much of overlap between the various treatment modalities (hair transplants, tricopigmentation, BHT etc), that I feel this section is better qualified for such a post.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
1. I have been against the concept of permanent tattoing of the scalp having seen many scalps that had it done. Even with the concept of putting the pigment as small dots to simulate hair, the fact remains that it would stay for life and possibly change color (usually turning bluish).
2. Not everyone wants/can sport a shaven look for the rest of one's lifetime.
Therefore, when I heard of a scalp micro pigmentation (Tricopigmentation) that disappears all by itself within 2 years I was interested and have been trying to meet real patients who have got it done.
In May 2014, I got to meet many such patients at different stages (6 months after, 1 year after, 18 months after) when I went to Milena Lardi's centre in Italy.
The pigment does disappear. Having seen the results, I was convinced about its viability and would recommend fellow doctors to research this aspect as I feel many patients can benefit
I shall be posting pictures and videos that I took during my own research and shall share my thoughts about the best possible ways to use tricopigmentation.
Any queries or suggestions are welcome.
Regards,
Dr. A
