Dutasteride Update (Drugs & Medications)

posted by rollercoaster1, 21.09.2009, 21:38

Thanks for the update.Allthough I don't understand why you call dutasterige the last remedy when it's not a remedy at all.It only caused more hair for you to shed, right?

» Thanks for your input. It's funny you mentioned it because this morning I
» went through this thread I started an had no idea I have been taking
» dutasteride for so long. Granted it was on and off and maybe one capsule a
» week for the first few months, but nonetheless, it's almost been one whole
» year already(!?!?) Also, after a long contemplation and reviews of my posts
» (really helped jog my memory, this log) I've come to the conclusion that my
» shed was unlikely from the dut (maybe partially) but mainly after I upped
» my nizoral2% to everyday usage. Less than 20 days later I experienced the
» monster shed, meanwhile I was on dut for over 6 months already at the
» point.
»
» Furthermore, I've also concluded that dutasteride has not been worth my
» while. Back then when I used to take finasteride I responded very well and
» should have continued once again with finasteride rather than dut. I
» thought dut would revive my crown entirely, to which it has not. Therefore,
» I will complete 2 more months with dutasteride to keep my promise of using
» it for at least 1 year to see full results, and will afterwards taper off
» slowly until I reach 1 capsule per week and ease into taking finasteride
» while simultaneously stopping dut. I only fear another shed when this slow
» change takes place. I will post new pics of my crown in 30 days for
» comparision.
»
» My opinion of dutasteride thus far? I think dutasteride should be the
» abslute last resort of one's remedy to slowing and/or halting hairloss.
» Only after finasteride has been exhausted with years of treatment until it
» stops working should dutasteride then be conidered as it's more potent and
» stronger.
»
» Regardless of the sheds I have not stopped taking dut but only decreased
» niz from everyday use to 2x/weekly usage.
»
» » MJ2003, I commend you for documenting your experience for others and I
» am
» » definitely not having a pop at you but have you ever taken a step back
» and
» » thought about whether this is all worth it ?
» »
» » Maybe my view is too far removed from yours, I am a NW6 who buzzes on a
» 0#
» » guard down to stubble, I think it looks OK but of course I miss the
» image
» » in my head of how I think I should still look. I do not have as much
» hair
» » as you and given the choice I would obviously prefer not to suffer MPB
» but
» » if it means having to go through what you do every day - the health
» risks;
» » the time; the emotional rollercoaster of such sheds; - I wouldn't even
» » consider trading places, it would be my worst nightmare.
» »
» » I come on these boards looking for an HT (not a good enough candidate
» with
» » current procedures unfortunately) or for HM ('within 5 years' as usual
» :-)
» » ). Perhaps I just don't care enough about hair loss - I would be
» prepared
» » to pay big bucks but not the constant time and health risks that these
» » drugs require.
» »
» »
» » I figure these are all judgement calls we have to make. I wish you the
» » best of luck and thanks again for documenting your journey to help
» others -
» » it just goes to show that we all have massively different tolerances
» and
» » priorities.
