The Facts About Karim Apichu, Yamchou


This is a response to the Hairsite post made by Karim aka Apichu aka yamchou

(click here to see post).

As of today Dr Umar is yet to receive a signed consent form that will allow him to discuss all the details of Karim’s medical file.

Karim has not responded to repeated appeals to complete the form. If he has any complaints about the form, he has not declared them. With those limitations in mind, here is what happened.

Karim contacted Dr Umar some time ago about having hair transplants at our clinic. This patient wanted several thousand grafts transplanted because of his advanced norwood status, but because of his history, Dr Umar decided to do a test session first.

The first surgery, the test session, consisted of approximately 500 grafts. Karim was supposed to pay a discounted price per graft for the surgery. However, when he arrived at the clinic for surgery, he told Dr Umar he didn’t have the money to pay. Dr Umar was displeased, but had already set aside the time, so he went forward and transplanted the grafts. He transplanted head hairs, beard hairs and leg hairs. Afterwards, Karim would not comply with basic follow-up protocols that he signed off on prior to the surgery including multiple requests for follow-up photographs and feedback. He finally sent his first pictures at 2 months after Dr Umar raised the prospect of cancelling him as a patient. Karim was supposed to send his first set of photos at 2 weeks.


The 500 grafts that were transplanted grew and the transplant was a success. And Karim had NO complaints. How do we know?


1. Because he sent Dr Umar a video 8 months after surgery. This video speaks for itself. He expresses in it complete satisfaction with the procedure, indicating NO concerns of any sorts and pleads to return along with his friends for more surgery. Please watch the video below:

2. Because Karim and his friends posted on a European website about the success of his result at 6 months. There they post variously as Samy, Apichu, and Karim77 on the same thread you can see when you visit the following link:

As to the white dots on his leg, white dots are a risk of the procedure. That risk is made known to the patient well before any surgery takes place. One of his friends had prominent white dots in his donor area from prior FUE and BHT at another European clinic (see the photos in the aforementioned French forum post). White dots are more noticeable on people with darker colored skin, like Karim. However, in Dr Umar’s experience the white dots shrink and fade over time. The white dots shown in the photos on Karim’s misleading post are the exact same photos that were taken by Karim at less than 2 months after surgery in the early healing phase. We know this because these photos were e-mailed to Dr Umar by Karim at under 2 months post-op, they were not taken 12 months after surgery as he represents. At less than 2 months post-op the appearance of the donor extraction sites (depending on body location and patient physiology) could still be prominent, but it would not be representative of the final result.

We invite Karim to show the pictures of his leg in its current state. He can have the day’s newspaper by the photo for veracity.

At 6 months after surgery, Karim along wit his friends posted on the aforementioned French hair loss forum “We have also heal very well the BHT (face, beard, leg) samples.” This is the English language translation generated by the computer of the post Karim made in the French language. In the video Karim sent Dr Umar at 8 months post-op, you will notice that Karim never mentions white dots or any problems with his donor areas.

As to Karim’s beard, Dr Umar extracted beard hair grafts from his face to place on top of his head. His beard will be thinner because of the extractions. That was disclosed to Karim before surgery. Any suggestion that there is now a hole in Karim’s beard is false and ridiculous. Why doesn’t he shave his beard and show what the skin on his face looks like now? Again a current newspaper for dating purposes would be helpful Watch the video, it’s the best evidence.


When Karim came to the clinic in March of 2010, he brought three of his friends, who also had transplant surgery. All three of Karim’s friends had emailed Dr Umar they are satisfied with the results of their transplants and want to return for more work.


Finally, in all of the e-mails Dr Umar had exchanged with Karim over the last 6 months he has never complained about the quality of the transplants, about white dots or about his donor areas. On the contrary, he had expressed only satisfaction, requesting to come to the clinic for more transplant work. The problem is that Karim wants the work for free, which Dr Umar will not do. Karim was going to do promotion work for the clinic that would have provided discounted transplants to him, but when he showed up for the test session unable to pay, and subsequently manifested compliance problems with follow-up protocols, that plan was cancelled.


When Dr Umar told Karim he won’t do free work for him, his response consisted of threats to go to another doctor, that he would prevent his friends from coming to Dr Umar and that he would go onto the internet and publish negative comments about him. Dr Umar will not give into his threats.
