RiverTown RT1640 Hair Regrowth Ingredients

RT1640 is a topical product. According to RiverTown Therapeutics, the treatment is formulated using 3 key ingredients.

1. Minoxidl - Our forum members are no strangers to topical minoxidil. This is the first defense that almost any hair loss sufferers use when first noticing signs of hair loss. We are not surprised that minoxidil is one of the ingredients in RT1640.
2. Cyclosporine A - Cyclosporine A (CsA) has generated a lot of interest in our community lately. It is an immunosuppressive drug that is mostly used for organ transplant patients to minimize the possibility of rejection and autoimmune diseases. Recent studies have shown that (CsA) is also known to carry a side effect of excessive hair growth in patients. Some suggest that Cyclosporine A generates hair growth by suppressing SFRP1, a protein that inhibits hair growth.
3. RT175 - the third ingredient in the formula is a NCE labeled as RT175 by RiverTown. NCE stands for New Chemical Entity. NCE is a generic term for new molecule or chemical developed in the early drug discovery stage. The objective for the innovator company is to turn NCE into a FDA recognized drug after undergoing clinical trials.

How does RT1640 work to reverse hair loss? According to RiverTown Therapeutics:

RT1640 is made up of three small molecule drugs that together synergize to act on three distinct pathways in hair biology. One drug promotes the growth and migration of new stem cells, one drug promotes the commitment of the follicular stem cells to become new hair and one protects the dermal papilla from the effects of DHT. RT1640 has been formulated to enhance penetration through the skin, to make it available to the hair follicles.

RT1640 Hair Loss Cure? Our Concern

RiverTown RT1640 hair loss cure we are hoping for? We do have a number of concerns.

First off, our biggest concern is Cyclosporine A (CsA). CsA has a toxic profile that is known to the medical world. We are unsure how safe it is to formulate a product using CsA even though it is intended to be applied topically only by RiverTown. That being said, RiverTown Therapeutics proclaim that they ingredients "are known to be safe for use on the skin, and there are thousands of people-year exposures to these drugs".

Our other concerns include the mystery ingredient RT175 that is not known to the public. Safety profile of R175 has not yet been established. It was mentioned that R175 has been tested in over 600 humans in FDA sanctioned clinical trials but we have yet seen any trial data as of now. Also, progress updates for RT1640 are seriously lacking which raises a lot of doubt and uncertainty if this product will ever be launched as a commercial product.
