Why is it Important?

Why is your hairline important? To put it simply, your hairline is the first impression you give to the world. It is one of the very first facial features that people notice. Your hairline is what frames your face. In other words, your hairline defines what you appear to the outside world. It can portray you as having a round face, a square face, a chiseled face, etc.

No Margin for Error

Hairline is by far the most important aspect of any hair transplant surgery. There is no margin for error. People will notice any flaws, any mistakes in hairline design within the first few seconds of a conversation with you. A casual glimpse will immediately reveal any unsightly scars you have along the hairline.

Hairline Density

Hair transplant hairline density decision requires careful consideration. An experienced doctor will know that there is no one hairline that fits all. Besides the patient's personal goals and desires, other factors such as the patient's age, extent of hair loss and donor supply will also play an important factor.

That a patient wishes to have a thick hairline does not necessarily mean that it is in his best interests even if he has an abundance of donor follicles. An ethical doctor would caution the patient against a thick hairline if the doctor anticipates that the patient will not have sufficient donor for future procedures.

Hair Transplant Dense Packing Technique

Hair transplant surgeons use a technique called Dense Packing in order to create a thick hairline for the patient that replicates the appearance of full density.

According to Dr. Suneet Soni from Medispa, normal hair density is about 100 grafts per sq cm.

Most hair transplant procedures strive to accomplish a density of about 30 – 45 grafts per sq cm. That is sufficient to create the illusion of acceptable coverage for most patients.  In dense packing procedures, the goal is to accomplish a density of 60 grafts per sq cm or higher and get as close to 100 grafts per sq cm as possible. This will create a near full restoration for the patient's hairline.

Do not believe that every doctor or clinic can perform dense packing. proper execution of the technique requires a very skillful surgeon with many years of experience together with cutting edge medical devices and a keen sense of artistry.

For example, at Medispa hair transplant clinic, Dr. Suneet Soni uses 4X Carl Zeiss magnification devices to ensure that all dense packing procedures are done correctly.

A Word of Caution

We all desire the teenage hairline we were born with. However, not every person is a good candidate for dense packing. You need to consult as many doctors as possible before making a decision. Careful planning is a pre-requisite for all hair transplant procedure.
