Hair multiplication, sometimes referred to as hair cloning, involves the use of stem cell or cell based therapy for the reproduction of new hair or even brand new hair follicles. It is by far the most exciting possibility in advanced hair restoration research and can render traditional hair transplant procedures obsolete. The problem with traditional hair transplant procedure is that it is a fairly invasive and intrusive procedure for the patient, healing time is relatively long and the success of the treatment depends on availability of donor follicles and the artistic skills of the doctor. Hair multiplication solves all these problems associated with traditional hair transplants as the new hairs created by hair multiplication are induced by means of extracting and multiplying stem cells without the need for a very involved surgery. Multiplication of hair stem cells also solves the problem of limited donor follicles as stem cells, theoretically, can be multiplied indefinitely with no limits which means the patient can have as much hair as he wants.
As of now, there are no known documentation of truly successful hair multiplication procedures except for some very bold claims made by Dr. Nigam that have yet to be substantiated. Here, with the help of HairSite's forum members, we will try to understand Dr. Nigam's stem cell hair multiplication protocol, examine the legitimacy of his claims and evaluate if his treatment protocol can indeed produce consistent results for men and women with hair loss and thinning hair.
